Rappers Soulja Boy and Chris Brown started off the year with hard feelings and took their dislike of each other to social media. This dispute has since escalated, leading Brown to challenge Soulja Boy to a boxing match.
The feud began on Twitter, where Soulja Boy claimed that Brown had called him and said he wanted to fight Soulja Boy for liking a photo of Brown’s ex-girlfriend, Karrueche Tran, on Instagram.
Tran gave her own opinion on this quarrel, stating on Instagram, “This drama between both of these two is so ridiculous it makes no sense.”
Soulja Boy went on to post videos and tweets that targeted Brown on Instagram and Twitter. He later on apologized to Brown on Instagram, taking back his remarks.
However, Soulja Boy continued to create posts that were directed at Brown, often using offensive language.
“After I knock Chris Brown out I’m going to crank that Soulja boy and superman in the ring on his [bottom],” Soulja Boy tweeted.
Brown caught wind that Soulja Boy was still hurling insults at him and stated in a video that Soulja Boy was making up “imaginary beef.”
This exchange worsened when Brown allegedly called Soulja Boy, who later clarified that he was going to fight Brown because of Brown’s ex-girlfriend, Rihanna.
In light of this match, 12-time MMA world champion Floyd Mayweather announced that he would be training Soulja Boy. However, the rapper later tweeted that Mayweather would no longer be doing so.
Since Mayweather is no longer training Soulja Boy, he also will not be helping organize the fight which was previously funded by Mayweather Promotions.
This led to a Twitter rant by Soulja Boy and a video, in which he claimed that he would be paying for all the costs.
At the same time, former heavy weight champion Mike Tyson issued a statement that he would be training Chris Brown in preparation for this match.
In another video, Soulja Boy declared the upcoming event “biggest fight of the century.” Ac- cording to him, the boxing event will take place in March, hosted by MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
There is speculation that the fight will be televised on Pay-per-view. However, there is no definite date of release or official verification by MGM.
Despite the hype on the Internet regarding the boxing match, there is no guarantee that it will be followed through with by the two celebrities.
