Gabrielino High School seniors participated in Soak-a-Senior, an end-of-year activity that allowed students and staff members to celebrate the class of 2026 by splashing seniors with water during lunch on April 30.
The event took place in the quad and gave students a chance to participate in a lighthearted tradition before the end of the school year. Students used buckets to soak participating seniors during lunch.
Senior Gabriel Beltran said he was soaked multiple times during the event and enjoyed the excitement that came with it.
“The first time someone soaked me, I was completely shocked,” Beltran said. “After that, I lost track of how many people came to soak me.”
Beltran said the event helped make senior year feel more memorable as graduation gets closer.
“It felt like one of those moments where everyone was just enjoying being together before we leave,” Beltran said.
Senior Michelle Cazares said she chose to participate because she wanted to be involved in one of the final senior activities of the year.
“I soaked my friends because I knew they would think it was funny,” Cazares said.
Cazares described the atmosphere during the event as energetic and positive.
“People were laughing the entire time,” Cazares said. “Even teachers and staff members were reacting to what was happening, so it felt like everyone was part of it.”
Many students said the event stood out from other senior activities because of how interactive it was. As the school year came to a close, Soak-a-Senior gave seniors one more opportunity to celebrate together before graduation.
