On Oct. 22, the big gym buzzed with excitement as students filled the space for the College Fair, an event designed to help juniors and seniors discover potential paths after high school and connect directly with college representatives.
More than 30 colleges and universities from across the country were in attendance, ranging from four-year universities to apprenticeship programs, providing students with a variety of schools to choose from and learn more about. Throughout the event, students moved from table to table, collecting brochures, pins, stickers and other college swag while asking questions about programs and scholarship opportunities. For many, it was their first step toward shaping their future beyond high school.
Senior Kayley Thai shared that she appreciates having a college fair, as it allows students to consider different things to pursue after graduation. “I enjoyed being able to talk to college representatives in person and learn more about things I can’t find through a regular online search,” Thai said.
Counselors and staff from the College and Career Center also offered support, helping students identify schools that align with their interests and goals. Leading up to the fair, senior Kellie Chen recalled talking to her counselor, saying, “We discussed potential schools to look out for that have programs that would help my future career, activities on campus and internships.”
“The College Fair is about opening doors and showing students the variety of opportunities available,” Career Center technician Katheryne Fuentes said.
As the event came to a close, many students left feeling informed and inspired. The College Fair served as a reminder that while the college search process can be stressful and overwhelming, it can also be an exciting journey filled with possibilities.
