Whether it is the cartoonish green alien seen on kids’ TV shows, or a mysterious flying object on the news, everyone has heard of aliens. Yet despite the popularity of their portrayal in media, alien existence is still in question.
There is, however, a highly secretive government-run military base in which numerous alien and UFO sightings have been reported. Area 51 is a remote United States military base whose role is unknown, yet the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) continues to keep it secret and highly guarded 24/7.
Some people believe in a religion revolving around aliens. Raëlism is a religion that teaches that extraterrestrials, called Elohim, inhabited Earth and developed the human race. The Elohim allegedly misinformed early humans and told them that they were angels, which is why the Bible exists.
Other people, including the majority of the U.S. believe in the existence of extraterrestrials. In a study conducted by Newsweek, 65% of men and 46% of women surveyed believed in aliens.
Believers have different opinion on the origin of alien existence. Their theories are often wild and bizarre.
Musician Chris Squire told CNN, “I believe that aliens are us from the future. It seems to me a very plausible reason that explains a lot of phenomena as opposed to green men with one eye from outer space.”
Squire believes that the alignment of the planets proves that aliens exist. However, it seems that debates over alien existence will continue so long as there are believers in the other-wordly.
