March 13 marked the one year anniversary of Gabrielino High School’s closure due to COVID-19. While many are still reeling from the events of the past year, it is important to acknowledge that through it all, Gabrielino has stayed strong.

We lost sports seasons, Spirit Weeks, club meetings, rallies and school dances. Some even lost loved ones. Yet we are still here. And, through the dark haze, there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon.

Restaurants and businesses are slowly but surely reopening. Teachers are being vaccinated and students will be returning to campuses in small groups.

Seniors, we will be graduating in two months. So, although the last year has been filled with innumerable trials and tribulations, I am confident that the Eagles will come out the other side brighter, more resilient, and with a renewed vitality for life. I am so proud of us.
