The girls varsity soccer team ended the season with a record of 9-2-1, taking second place in the Mission Valley League. The girls lost the tie breaker for first place against South El Monte High School on Jan. 21, 2-3. The team was still able to earn themselves a spot in CIF and faced off against Grand Terrace High School in the first round, but lost, 1-2.
“This year was like a rebuilding year for [Olivia Koyama] and I, we had to lead a young team” stated captain Olivia Gonzales, senior. “We still did good and are proud of ourselves. We didn’t take second place in a bad way, but as something to look into the future.”
With a few key player leaving after the season, Coach Rafa Moran has a young core to look forward to in the next seasons to come.
