When the varsity football team began the year by winning their first three games against Costa Mesa High School, Contreras High School, and Sierra Vista High School, the players proved that they were determined to have a successful season. The Eagles were led by Coach Harold Sanin and were able to thrive from the abundant amount of returners on their team.
“We were just a group of guys that cared about the sport and each other, and that translated onto the field,” stated senior Sohaib Usman, co-captain. “Even though we didn’t you know some games that didn’t go our way we knew that we tried, we left it all on the field.”
The team ended their season with a 5-5 record, which was a major improvement from the 2-7 record that the Eagles had last year. Although they were unable to qualify for CIF Preliminaries this year, the boys hope to learn from their losses and train harder in order to perform even better next year.
