“We always say that being in duo is a privilege because it’s the only event where you can tell a story and spread a message with a friend,” stated senior Gabriel Peña.
Duo Interpretation, commonly referred to as Duo, is an event where two competitors team up to deliver a ten-minute performance of a published play or story. The pairs are not allowed to make eye contact or touch each other throughout the duration of their performance.
Currently, Gabrielino High School has 26 competitors in Duo. The Speech and Debate team will be sending three pairs to the National Speech & Debate Association (NSDA) National Tournament. This event is also one of the three events at Gabrielino to have national champions.
“Duo builds teamwork and teaches us to work through issues together,” explained Bianca Lua, sophomore.
