Expository, also known as informative, requires boards and visual aids in order to persuade the audience. Expository at Gabrielino are well known for their boards because of a specific way they are designed. All students competing in expository need to learn how to create their boards in a certain style in order to improve their presentation.
Participants in Expository pick a certain topic, either a process, object, or concept and try to inform the audience without being subjective. The maximum time for their speech is 10 minutes including set up and take down of boards. Expository is about learning how to deliver the speech well while having a smooth flow of showing the boards.
“Our boards are what really sets Gabrielino participants apart from the other schools” stated junior Sarah Voung. “The tech and secrets that we use are passed down every year which is something that is really special.”
