Movies and game nights take over

    By Cassidy Lee

Since the coronavirus lockdown was announced, I have been stuck at home with not much to do. At the beginning, I went from binging Netflix shows to repeatedly cleaning my room in order to pass time. However, as the weeks went on, I realized that, aside from completing my homework, there were more productive things I could be doing.

I decided to start spending some time outdoors. I went from walking my dogs to riding my bike with my family around my neighborhood. It was great to see so many of my neighbors enjoying the fresh air and sunlight too. Though me being me, I could not stand the heat of the sun or the burning in my legs after I walked around the block.

The outdoor plan was short-lived as the weather began to turn cloudy and gray. I resorted to cooping myself up in my room, painting with my watercolors. However, that endeavour was brief as I tend to get bored of things fairly easily.

Then, since my family was just as bored as I was, my mom had the ingenius idea to have us play Monopoly. We held our family game night in the living room.

Aside from traditional board games, my family also enjoyed playing mobile games as well. Our favorite tended to be “Family Style”, a cooking game in which the players had to pass the ingredients to each other in order to fulfill the orders to move on to the next level. The game usually ended with us screaming at each other and pushing all the ingredients to my mom or dad’s screens since they were not very tech savvy.

However, it was extremely fun and entertaining.Though family game night was our ultimate go to in times of boredom, we also enjoyed watching movies together.

The lockdown has brought us together and encouraged us to spend more time with each other, all while making good use out of our board games.
