The Gabrielino High School boys swim team lost against Mark Keppel High School on Mar. 12, which was their last game before the season abruptly ended.
A week before, the Eagles were defeated by Schurr High School at Barnes Park on Mar. 7.
“[It’s disappointing] that the season got cut short, but [the team] made the best use of the opportunities [they] had, senior co-captain Spencer Tong stated, “I know we could’ve improved and gone farther if we had a longer season.”
Asides from having the season being cut, the team had also faced some challenges that affected their performance. Unlike last year, there were new coaches for this season, which also meant that training started later than usual. In addition, they also had to adjust to the coaches’ training style.
“Our goal next year is to bounce back from this year’s situation and continue to adjust with the new coaching staff,” co-captain Joshua Hu stated.
