This year the Gabrielino Boys Golf team was not able to compete in the Montview League as planned due to Covid-19 social distancing measures.
Last year, the Eagles won the league championship and plan to do so again next year when the season resumes.
“I hope next season [the team can] keep up the level of play that we were playing at before our season got cancelled,” stated Senior Anthony Yu. “With practice they could be better than I ever could.”
Despite the misfortune, Coach Steve Swanson remains optimistic.
“This was not fair to the senior class to have an ending like this, but maybe there is a valuable lesson here, that sometimes things are not fair and you need to move on and not dwell on it,” stated Swanson. “the best thing about golf is you can continue to play for a lifetime and I’m sure we will play again sometime.”
