“[The outcomes of the games] didn’t go as we planned it to be, but I think we tried our best this season,” stated co-captain Edgar Mercado, senior.
Although they had a few setbacks in the season, the boys varsity soccer team started with strong pre-season wins against North View High School, 1-0, and Muir High School, 3-0.
During their season, the team had a consistent number of wins and losses. The team scored a win against Mountain, 1-0 and a loss against Arroyo, 4-1 and 4-0. Additionally, they also tied against South El Monte for both games during the season, 1-1.
Overall, their teamwork and bonding time helped the team get through the season and improve. The team were able to compete well against other schools but scoring a goal was sometimes difficult.
