Today at 3:30 p.m., the boys varsity soccer team will play against Arroyo High School. This game will be played at Gabrielino High School.

Last year, the boy’s varsity soccer team placed 6th in Mission Valley League with a record of 1-9-2 and an overall record of 3-10-4.

This year the boys soccer team has fought hard to maintain their status as first place in Mission Valley League at the time of writing.

The boys soccer team competed against Rosemead High School on Jan. 25. Scores are not available at press time.

“Our strategies are to knock the ball around, pass it, not hold on to it too much, and when we have the opportunity to score we take our chances wisely,” stated senior Jordan Garcia.

Gabrielino competed against Marshall High School on Jan. 23 and secured a win, 4-2.

Garcia stated, “We’ve been practicing all week… we’ve been defeating every team.”

The Eagles played against El Monte High School for the second time on Jan. 17 and won with a clean victory, 3-0.

On Jan. 13, the boy’s soccer team lost against Mountain View High School by a score of 1-0.

“Mountain View has been a pretty good school for soccer in the past couple of years,” Garcia explained during the match against Mountain View. “But with the energy we’ve been having this season, I think we can take them down.”

Throughout the whole match against Mountain View, the boy’s soccer team put up an intense fight. In the end, they lost by one point and failed to score any.

On Jan. 11, the Eagles played against South El Monte High School and won 3-0.

Two days earlier, on Jan. 9, the team traveled to Arroyo High School and won with a score of 2-0.

On Jan. 5, the boy’s soccer team dominated against Rosemead High School and pulled ahead with a win of 6-0.

The team won with a score of 3-0 against Marshall High School in a league game on Dec. 20.

The Eagles then competed against San Gabriel High School in a non-league game on Dec. 16, again winning with a score of 8-2.

On Dec. 16, the team played their first league game of the season against El Monte High School in an away game. The Eagles won with a score of 1-0.
